Major breakthrough with pushes and shanks...

Focused on posture and balance. I've always thought I had both of these down because I've played for so many years - surprise, I didn't. I've been letting the golf club pull me off my platform, which leads to moving towards the ball. This means a ton of mishits unless I compensate by setting up further away. An article by David Leadbetter in the July issue of Golf Digest really helped. His tips were:
  1. Lighten Grip - too much tension in your hands prevents the club from swinging down and through the impact area. The feeling you want is that the clubhead is "releasing" past you.
  2. Flex your toes upward - If your hands and body shift toward the ball, your weight moves onto your toes. (THIS WAS ME!). Keep your toes flexed upward in your shoes to keep your weight back.
  3. Hold your chest high - Keep your chest up through impact and don't dive at the ball, but don't compensate by changing your spine angle
  4. Keep your hands close - As the club moves through, focus on the grip end staying near your body. Put a tee in the ground just outside the toe of your club at address. Miss the tee at impact and you'll hit the ball in the center of the face.

critique/help my crappy swing! Leadbetter A swing (sorta) attempt

my irons have always been extremely inconsistent. I saw some talk about the Leadbetter A swing and after checking it out, I thought it might fit me well. I already have a strong left hand grip/weak right hand grip (although I use a ten finger grip because my right pinky is kind of screwed, used to use interlock) so it seemed like it might be a good fit.
I attempted to mimic the swing the best I could after watching a whole bunch of videos, and while I'm sure I'm butchering it, I felt much more comfortable swinging like this than my normal swing. after watching the video, it seems like my head is very not still, and it looks like my elbow is kind of flying out at the top of my swing. it feels somewhat harder to keep my armpit close with this swing as compared to my normal swing.
any tips, advice, or mockery would be appreciated!
