Table games will open at 8 a.m. Saturday. MGM Grand Detroit to reopen at reduced capacity Aug. 7. MGM Grand Detroit will reopen on August 7 for meals and a chance to hit the slots again. After months closed by executive order during the MGM Resorts International announced Thursday its MGM Grand Detroit gaming property in Detroit, Michigan, will re-open August 7, albeit with certain limits to some of the venues.The public re-opening will be preceded by an invitation-only event. The casino property will resume operations after months of closure, as in March Governor Gretchen Whitmer ordered casinos, along with gyms, bars and Casinos in Detroit, Michigan prepare to reopen in line with Phase 5 of the reopening plan of the state. Set to start as of July 4, gyms, casinos, movie theaters and other businesses plan to reopen.
