Backstory for Mortimer Mugglefart

Mortimer’s backstory

Mortimer Mugglefart was born in 1926 to Winston and Clementine Mugglefart. He said his first words at age 10 months at a family gathering. Not being told by his parents they were going to a family gathering, when he saw his family sat around a table, he shouted “what’s going on heeaarree!!” and at age 2 he could speak moderately well, once cussing out his mum/mom when she tried to give him food he didn’t like. It was also at age 2 that Mortimer got stuck on a potty. Despite calling out “Help! I’m stuck on a potty over heeaarree!” no-one helped him, which made Mortimer have a dislike for other people. As a young child, he showed no fear of anyone or anything, often cussing out students and teachers in his school years when they wronged him. When Mortimer would be called on the register, he would answer with things like “hAaAAAhHH?!?!” Yeah yeah Mortimer Mugglefart is up in here!”, reflecting his rebellious side due to the injustice involving the potty incident. Mortimer showed a natural gift for fighting, having fought 250 times in school and maintained a 250-0 undefeated streak in fights in school . He was never defeated and commanded respect from everyone, because his opponents would always come out with bad injuries (bones often broken, face swollen and the such). He could also receive punishment and not be phased (meaning he was not afraid of beatings). Mortimer worked at bars and such in his young adult life to earn a living and would often fight customers (and win) when they got rowdy. He would participate in the ending stages of WW2 and afterwards opened a clothing business called Mugglefart’s Magnificent Outfits which he still runs today with the help of his grandchildren. Mortimer loves to experience, and has travelled all over the world. He’s visited St Paul’s Cathedral and other attractions in London, been to the top of most of the world’s tallest buildings (Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab in Dubai, Tokyo Skytree, The Shard in London, Eiffel Tower, One World Trade Center, Empire State Building, Petronas Towers, Willis Tower, CN Tower, Space Needle among others), ridden 2,469 roller coasters and has been to a total of 69 countries. Mortimer also likes to indulge. He has tried 197 different cocktails and has tried every spirit in the book. He also lives a free-love lifestyle, having divorced his wife Edna and has been seeing many women ever since. His travels often brought him more fighting. When he visited India in the 90s, he was attacked by a tiger. He promptly beat up the tiger and left it limping away, having only had minor scratches. He proudly displays a canine tooth from the tiger in a glass case in his home. In 2010 he was stalked by a pride of lions, but upon noticing them he screamed “I’ve got hammers for fists over heeaarree!!” and the pride of lions scattered and took off. In 1984 he also fought and killed a grizzly bear and came out with just a bruise. Mortimer is also an avid gambler. He’s won in every casino in Las Vegas, having an estimated earning of $20,000,000 from the casinos. He’s even bankrupt 36 casinos in one night in the 1990s. Legend has it Chuck Norris once fled screaming from a bar when he heard Mortimer was on the way because of how powerful Mortimer was. The Mafia never mess with Mortimer either because of his fighting undefeated streak and sheer fighting ability. He once stumbled on an underground casino and the mafia fled the scene when they had guns on them, showing how intimidating Mortimer was. Mortimer is also believed to have the most dense abs on the planet, having had a vigorous workout routine in his youth. In his old age, Mortimer isn’t nearly as strong as he was before but can still hold up a fight with top tier fighters. In 2019 Mortimer was drunk in a bar when three young Russian soldiers tried to attack him. He successfully fought them off without ever being injured. His memory is poor in his old age but he keeps a diary called “Mortimer’s Adventures Over Heeaarree!” to help him recall events. Mortimer is more clumsy in his old,age too, having recently got stuck on a toilet for 16 hours. Mortimer has defied doctors’ predictions of his lifespan, having been pinned to die at age 64 due to his drinking and fighting but 30 years later Mortimer is still going strong and isn’t showing signs of slowing down.

Coaster Draft II: Official Draft Thread

Welcome everyone to Coaster Drat II! Starting NOW, fedoraman59 is officially on the clock and has 24 hours to make their pick. Please only comment on this thread with your draft picks. I will be creating a separate thread for discussion purposes where people can post questions, discuss picks, trash talk(politely), etc. PLEASE remember to tag the next person in your draft pick comment to notify them that it's their turn, to help make sure they don't miss their pick. I will do my best to keep this OP updated with everyone's picks, but It is up to you to double check recent picks to make sure you don't accidentally try to draft a coaster that has already been taken.
Draft Rules 1. You may draft any coaster that is currently listed as operating on www.rcdb.com at the start of the draft. Coasters that open after the draft starts are off limits. 2. When you draft a coaster, make sure you very clearly state what coaster you are choosing and what park it is located in in your post. All draft choices should be made as their own comment in the draft thread (that will be a separate thread from this one), and not as response comment to somebody else's comment. This way when the thread comments are sorted by "new" it will be very easy to see what the most recently drafted coasters were. Also in your comment, you should tag the next drafter to notify them that they are on the clock. 3. You have 24 hours to make your pick! After 24 hours is up the next drafter is free to make their selection and the draft will continue. You may make your missed pick at any time after that, but the rest of the draft is free to continue drafting after your 24 hours is up. If at any point you miss 2 picks in a row, you will be removed from the draft and be replaced with an alternate (if we ever get any alternate signups). If for some reason you know ahead of time that you may have to miss a pick for whatever reason, message the mods with a list ranking your top choices and one of us will make the pick for you. If you have multiple picks in a row, your pick time does not stack, you still only get 24 hours. 4. The draft will operate in a snake order, which means that after we finish a round, the order for the next round will be reversed(For example: 1-2-3-3-2-1-1-2-3, etc.). There will be 12 rounds, after 12 rounds is up, everyone should have a coaster lineup that consists of 12 coasters, and from that point we will move onto the voting season. 5. You may draft racing/dueling coasters as one coaster. General rule of thumb is if it has one listing on RCDB than you can draft it as one coaster. 6. Travelling coasters such as Olympia Looping are not eligible to be drafted.
An example of what your draft pick comment should look like(I've higlighted the important pieces in bold): "For the 5th pick in the draft, I will take Batman: the Ride from Six Flags Great Adventure. _scott_m_ is next."
Have fun everyone, and thanks for participating!

A series of ideas to improve STW: The Mimic update

So STW is nowhere near as popular as BR, but that doesn't mean we should just give up on seeing this mode through! Leachers, traders, and more can be addressed with a few additions to the game.
To best structure this article I made it in the form of an update, but sense this isn't real, I'm calling it the Mimic update.

NEW TRAPS:

These are some new tools players will start to collect post plankwood from llamas and occasionally from chests.
AACannon: Only targets airborne enemies, so sheilders, takers, and flung husks will be shot down quickly.
Smasher Bumper: This is a large wall like trap with spikes in front of it that can only be placed on metal and brick. It's key purpose is that it stops smashers in their tracks, should they be charging.
Electro-grids: A wall trap that doesn't actually protect against husks, as they can walk through it. What it DOES stop is blaster beams, skulls, and other projectiles thrown by husks and misties. It's fairly cheap to produce as well.

NEW WEAPONS:

-The Bomb Bag:
This is a unique schematic type one can earn now for all explosive types. Clingers, impulse grenades, m40s, they can now all be crafted in bulk with these schematics. They do require a lot of gunpowder though.
-Flame weapons: Runs like an RPG where it has infinite ammo but its ammo comes from its durability. Can come in a flamethrower type weapon, or a launched shot of flame weapon. Increased damage against nature husks, lesser damage against water husks.

On the topic of Leachers

Why we have this problem is beyond me, as the solution seems simple. All we need to do is use the VERY stats we're given at the end of each game (combat, building, utility) to create a new stat: Participation percentage.
If Larry spends the game mining resources, fighting husks, and doing objectives, he will have more combat, building, and utility under his belt by the end. When compared to Jennifer who leached the whole game, Jennifer is going to have a much lower participation percentage.
All we have to do after that is deny rewards to players whos participation percentage falls too short.
This also opens up the field to "100% effort" bonuses for solo missions.

Changes to Canny Valley and Twine Peaks

I do not know why both Canny and Twine still use the same generic map generation as plankerton and stonewood.
Instead Canny should have a series of Arizona like cities and towns where large patches of desert reside outside and palm trees are littered elsewhere.
The gimic of Canny and Twine is that you move from an area with high wood content to an area of high stone content.
This doesn't mean they need to deny area types as well:
City: A Dubai like area with tons of skyscrapers.
Industrial Park: Same, just more construction zones and oil wells than buildings.
Suburbs: Much more arid and dry with most houses looking like Walter Whites.
Forests: This is the main difference, as now this zone needs to be changed to wilderness. In canny this is a mostly desert region with a few small buildings and mine shafts.

Likewise there can be a whole slew of new special areas like casinos, nuketowns, and monster truck yards.

Twine Peaks gets its own unique areas as well, but it's still stone centered.
Cities: Now much more like towns at the bases of a few mountains.
Industrial Zone: This is basically an "underground lab" type zone that's mid construction. There's plenty of bunkers and lots of construction sites boaring into the earth.
Suburbs: Now much more like a ski resort atop a series of mountains with lodges and buildings dotted across the area.
Wilderness: Just mountains and valleys with a lodge or mine shaft every here or there.

STORY:

I'm a bit hazy on the story right now and I'm finding it really hard to find answers to where the story goes. I can get the mission names but I can't actually find anything about where people are heading past plankerton. For this reason I'm simply going to create my own story following these events.
*After fending off the storm from Twine Peaks, Ray turns her attention to two separate goal lines:
Either establish a truly safe base of operations in Iron Archipelico, or Launch a full-scale attack on the storm in Gear Gulch.
Each of these two areas can be progressed through simultaneously.
Iron Archipelico is a series of islands out in the ocean. There's plenty of boats and treasure to find. By the end of the last storm shield defense (before the bonus ones) one unlocks a portal that grants access to the "Sky Station".
Gear Gulch is a nice return to a grassy area with lots of hills, windmills, and large areas of real estate such as golf courses and mansions. Progress through here and ray finds key information on the mysterious history of the storm, and where it came from (however the actual result of this will be revealed in the update following this one)
Sky Station is a space elevator, as one can expect, combat here is much different.
Each map consists of a large area (about 1/2 of an entire map we have on any given mission) And instead we're given issues of verticality.
Similar to the jump from plankerton to canny, this area is heavily reliant on metal as opposed to stone or wood. There are plenty of trees on observatory platforms and stone statues throughout the building.
Storm defense: Unlike what one would expect, you start this journey on the top floor where you are actually in orbit. This stormbase has little gravity making combat unique to other areas. Each additional storm pylon is another floor down each time, with one actually being suspended in orbit on its own tethered satilite.
Cities (Now command stations): These areas are super dense and can range in gravitational pull.
Industrial zones: Always located near the top so low gravity.
Suburbs (Now living quarters): Located anywhere throughout the building and ranges in gravity.
Wilderness (now conservatory) : Always has plenty of wood and regular gravity.
The bottom part of the tower is the focus of the mission, as that is currently undergoing a lot of husk attacks in an attempt to knock the tower over.
Likewise these 3 new areas come with some new features as well:

New enemies:

Spider-Seaker: Mist monster: Jumps onto a players back and harms them, if one latches on, one is forced to remove it either through melee attacks, special abilities, or have a fellow player shoot it off.
Tazzzzzer: Mist Monster: Works and looks like a slightly bigger shielder, but actively siphons off energy from players, and two can actually disable any given trap until removed.
Calvary: Husk: Rides a boney stallion into players to push them back. Shoot down the horse and he's just another husk. (Smasher stoppers work on these guys too)

New Mission Types:

Sneaky:
Starting in Gear Gulch, you will see the appearance of Reavers.
Reavers do not attack structures and are infact blind. However they are also invincible.
Missions with reavers will require one to take something or defend data in an area surrounded by reavers. They don't care much about construction noises, but will be drawn towards the sound of gunfire. Meaning players will need to rely on traps and their building skills to succeed here. If one does attract a reaver, they simply have to run away and hop on a hoverboard to lose their stalkers.

Battlestations

In iron archipelico, the husks appear to be getting smarter, and have actually developed a battleship to destroy your bases. The solution is simply to use a varriaty of missions specific traps (cannons) to combat the battleship from ones own fortress. Unlike most missions the solo versions of these will only have husks coming from the ship. In 4 player recommended mode, they will come from everywhere.
So those are some of my ideas to build onto the game, what are your thoughts?

JoJo's OC Tournament #3 - Round 4 Wrap-up

The results are in for match 5 and match 6. The winner of match 5 is…
Buffalo Soldier, with a score of 66 to Russ Teneo’s 65!
Category Winner Point Totals Comments
Popularity Russ Teneo 18-22 A lot of debate came down to the very first things that Russ Teneo did, and whether or not recruiting a random passerby was a feasible strategy or not, but thankfully nobody seemed to consider it the sole deciding factor of the strategy, giving both it and Buffalo’s a fair analysis to the tune of a close 5-6… And a third, singular voice citing with confidence that Destiny Showdown would be the one to land the killing blow. Though counting it technically wouldn’t have made a difference in terms of who ultimately came out as the victor, the one-point lead makes too much of a point about how tight a match this truly was.
Quality Buffalo Soldier 24-21 Reasoning.
JoJolity Buffalo Soldier 24-22 Reasoning.
Who the… Who the hell is this guy? Russ Teneo had pulled out all the stops in curbing the madman who’d suddenly appeared during his assassination attempt, but for his trouble, was ultimately left collapsed on his hands and knees, struggling to stand and no longer even noticed by the man who’d defeated him and taken down the senator to boot.
Jules can’t fight anymore… I’m all that’s left of Jaded Justice! I can’t just… I can’t… Just…
Buffalo Soldier slung his most potent weapon over his shoulder, standing in the remains of the battle-worn truck stop. There were only two once-living things in this entire area still standing: him, and Destiny Showdown.
Destiny took a defensive stance as Buffalo walked closer, only for the wild man to look off to something by the side of what remained of Senator Elliot’s limousine: the shot-up corpse of Thela Hun Ginjeet.
Buffalo closed his onetime leader’s eyes, picked him up, and slinged him over his shoulder. “There’s something he would have wanted.”
Moments later, a bus pulls back up to the wrecked truck stop, skidding to a halt next to Buffalo and Destiny. Desummoning Window Licker, Amaki Castillo, very visibly shaken but unharmed, emerged. “Buffalo Soldier. You are… Going to explain why I woke up being shot at and had to drive the bus alone!”
“The two of you…” Destiny gives a relieved smile, clutching his wounded arm still. “I would have died if it wasn’t for the two of you.” And a frown, looking at Thela again. “I’m sorry I could not save your companion… He fought and lived valiantly, according to his own ideals.” He strokes his chin some. “This… Whole mess, with the bodies of the senator and his men… I’ll dispose of it. You needn’t worry a minute about authorities tracing any of this back to you. That’s the most I can do to repay you.”
“Really? You’re just gonna…” Amaki had a feeling this is a really good thing, even when she didn’t really understand what was going on. “What’s the catch?”
“All I ask in return,” Destiny offers, “is whatever may still be inside Russ Teneo’s car. I can even show you whatever I find.”
Speaking for both of them, Buffalo was quick to answer. “…deal. Best thing we can get right now.”
Over the course of the next several minutes, Amaki and Buffalo watched in awe and slight horror as, very methodically, the supernaturally talented restaurateur, using his stand’s fluids, reduced the blood-soaked battlefield of a truck stop covered in damning evidence into a disturbingly sterile place, riddled with skeletons laying in this or that position, special Deep Purple weapons disassembled or destroyed to an unrecognizable extent.
“All should be good here…” Destiny looks at a car approaching in the distance. “Ah, and perfect timing. My ride is here.”
With his new acquisition, before either of Amaki or Buffalo could get a good look at the driver, Destiny had piled into the car, which sped away in the direction from which it came.
Ah, Destiny. I hadn’t suspected my faith to be misplaced, but am I ever glad to see you again. I take it by the veritable boneyard I drove in on that your mission was a success?
“There were… complications. I regret that Thela Hun Ginjeet lost his life in the struggle, and some others had to help me in the end,” he admits, “as you probably knew by the man who rode off to meet you. Speaking of him, I trust Wyland is…”
Thela… It’s possible such a man with resolve like his could have understood us. At least, I’d like to think.” GIANTS’ usually clean-cut silhouette was noticeably frayed at the edges, his clothing seeming torn, singed, or otherwise worn out. Looking down at his own state of appearances, his voice once again rings out with deep self-satisfaction. “In any case, Wyland is about as likely to trouble us again as the monster we’ve slain today.
“That’s… good.” Destiny winces through his teeth, clutching his bleeding arm. “Could you take care of this?”
Naturally. I just didn’t want to presume.” As he reaches out to place his shade-cloaked hand on Destiny’s wound, something gives him a moment of pause. “I don’t take it that what you’re holding is… ” Implores the shadow, having already pulled away from Destiny’s no-longer bleeding arm.
Destiny brings the object close to the driver, and his eyes go wide in excitement. “It was exactly as I’d suspected… This is ‘The Hanging Tree.’”
Excellent. Of course, I take it that this means that another one of those ‘groups’ in this hunt…
Destiny nods. “Jaded Justice will trouble us no more. All of its members are either deceased or no longer in any condition to fight again.”
The first of them to drop out of this was Akiyoshi Yamamoto, who left the team after that bungee jumping battle at the Grand Canyon caused by our late associate. He’s recovered and rejoined the Speedwagon Foundation since, but their Japanese branch is more preoccupied with possible associates to Deep Purple. He won’t trouble us.
The second to depart was Miras Atrium, who was on that second model volcano created by Barbie Girl, alongside Henry Walshmann. He lacked the… Resolve, that his companions had, and has simply withdrawn from this hunt entirely.
Blue Monday was quite the skilled leader and investigator, and even a decent gambler by his track record against Crowbar Jackson in the House of the Rising Sun. Lilah disposed of him with no complications.
Henry Walshman survived the same faux volcanic eruption Miras did, only to be defeated in Dubai taking an elevator at the same time as Baron Mordechai. He never even managed to meet Blue Monday before he expired and the elevator he’d been bleeding out in crashed.
Grace Vincent… A sad casualty of someone else’s assassination. After she showed so much resolve in defeating that raccoon in a Deep Purple research facility, she too fell victim to a fatal crash orchestrated by Lilah Dawn after that bizarre test Missy Elliot’s former babysitter put her through.
Their third longest lasting, and their oldest member, Tsao Xu, who was instrumental in the murder of Flori Dada and cutting of half our funding with the help of Bikini Bottom… If I recall Mr. Roan’s report on that correctly, he died of old age after attempting to curtail Manny Elflad’s hospital massacre.
Jules Langlais, that young man who seemed inseparable for awhile from Russ Teneo. They defeated the Ultraviolet Underground on a stretch of road not unlike this one, but then he failed alongside Tsao Xu at that hospital. Teaming up again with Russ, the pair was able to kill Marco F. Caine before he could be a problem for us, only to be defeated by his teammate in some mob-run batting cage and put in critical condition.
Russ Teneo proved to be a fiercer fighter than any of his allies. I reiterate that he defeated two members of the Ultraviolet Underground, and under greatly confusing circumstances, he and a user from another team defeated that Aunt Leslie fellow who never accepted your invitation. Again with the help of Jules, he defeated the Philosophers of Hardy Diamond. I think he was trying to save me and Thela Hun Ginjeet, but in the end, he took Buffalo Soldier’s appearance as a challenge and wound up fighting him over who could assassinate Mr. Elliot. Suffice to say, he was bested.
“It’s unfortunate, really…” Destiny’s commander remarked with a sigh. “They truly thought they were defending a greater good, many of them unjust casualties in fate’s attempts to obstruct our path...”
“The world could stand to have more people like them… I’ve always appreciated the work of the Foundation in general. It saddens me that they’ve stood in our way…”
Elsewhere, not long after…
The winner of match 6 is…
The Player Team, with a score of 71 to Strawberry Roan’s 69!
Category Winner Point Totals Comments
Popularity Cosmic Chiefs 22-18 Even with a major misunderstanding, the player team’s strategy was considered solid enough that even those five who voted against it made a point of mentioning how positively solid it was. Votes were piling in until the last minute, disagreeing over whether Strawberry’s long game or the players’ hunting tactics would win out, and if there had been one less, the results of this match would have been completely different.
Quality Cosmic Chiefs 26-25 Reasoning.
JoJolity Strawberry Roan 23-25 Reasoning.
Gina’s shot rang through the air. Her and Lucil had cornered Roan, Lucil in particular having just assaulted him in short-range. He was on the backswing; he had evaded her, gotten a few shots off and ran, but Gina was prepared. He slinked, just briefly, into the range of her [Bad Name], and with the guidance of her Stand, fired off a shot. A low cough and groan made it very clear; the shot had found its mark. It had taken a few stressful hours, but a clean shot was landed on the gunslinger, a follow-up to a beatdown. As Gina pulled the trigger, Lucil and her [Around the World] made their approach.
“You hit him?” Lucil asked, her body hit with a few cuts, scrapes, and bruises.
“Yeah.” Lucil replied curtly.
“Is it safe to make an approach?”
”Let’s see…” [Bad Name’s] voice echoed into Gina’s mind. “Seems like you got him right in the gut… He’s propped himself, sitting under a tree. Doesn’t look like he’s armed. If you wanna question him, make it fast, I think he might be bleeding out.”
“... Seems like it.” Gina finally replied, standing up and swinging her rifle on to her back. “Let’s hurry. He might not have long left for questioning.”
Lucil grimly nodded, following her partner into the woods, towards the gunslinger…
It was already unprecedented for us to even start Round 3, and here we are now closing off Round 4, and both matches on such close notes in all categories… It’s hard to even think of anything to say, I’m blown away by how much closer to the end we’ve made it so far.
Out of the 64 players to have originally entered this tournament, only 8 are remaining as we move into the final round. To everyone who made it this far, to their teammates, and even those who participated in any capacity, we suggest you give yourselves a pat on the back.
As always to any sub-only spectators out there, if you would like first updates and news about the tournament, as well as the ability to interact with the members of the tournament community, then please feel free to PM a member of our Judge Staff and ask for a link to the Official Tournament Discord Server!
Round 4 End Credits theme.
After having proven herself in a race through the vicious Soul Train, poor Mute needed time to herself again. Lucil was great company, of course, but she’d had a lot to think about, and loneliness, in its own ways, was frequently very comforting for her. Not that she wasn’t worried about her, of course, especially since she’d be gone for days, but she had a feeling this one wasn’t forever like Baron.
“A lot of people have died for whatever this is going to give us…” Mute examined her team’s artifact once more. “I wonder what all can really be worth this much…”
Amaki Castillo, who had emerged victorious from a brawl in a sketchy casino’s ballroom not long ago, rested her head on the steering wheel of the banged-up Astral Traveler. Sweet Connelly walked out from under a seat, making a hard to read face at Amaki and making her jump a bit in surprise at the sight.
“Never a dull day, huh..?” She mused to the fox, then looked back at her sole human passenger. “Can we just get out of here now? You can explain everything to me on the way as far from here as possible…”
“That coat…” Gregor Yuvecksky looked at the dark-colored article of clothing with quizzical interest.
“Oh, this?” Geoff Wetton looked down at his newest article of clothing. “It… turned up on the shore when we were in Australia. I swear it’s the same one that Soichi fellow had.”
“And it survived being underwater, surrounded by blood and sharks, eh? Perhaps the coat itself is lucky…” Gregor lets out a mildly amused exhale, but his heart isn’t in it, considering his gruesome last run-in with the thing.
“Then hopefully I’ll be its first owner to truly channel that,” Geoff remarks, mixed emotions similarly present in his voice.
Anna Rose, after another trip to a sports-related match, was back at the university. She took a sip of yet another can of Doctor Doctor Doctor; since associating it with her victory over Jules, they’d become a beverage she just couldn’t get enough of.
“No more sports,” she said with a content sigh, setting it down and taking a seat. “From now on I’m just fully in ass-kicking mode.” She calls out to the younger and older men in the next room over. “You hear that, you two?! Ass-kicking mode!
“…someplace with vultures,” Buffalo Soldier responded after some thought, looking at what’s left of Thela. “That’s what he’d want to happen to him.”
As Amaki nodded with uncertainty, she pulled over both to look at something on the roadside and actually google some important things relating to what he just said. They were in the middle of nowhere after successfully assassinating a Floridan senator..
“Well…” Lucil Caravan rubbed the side of her neck, unsure what to say after what had just gone down. “It’s certainly been… A few days!”
“Strawberry Roan…” Gina Halfway sighs, Bad Name looking over her guns. “I never could have had a greater test of my sniping skills than taking you on, and never could have completed it without your help, Miss Caravan.”
“Y’know,” Lucil remarks, gazing around at everything and nothing in particular, “I’ve got a friend who’s real bummed out our duo couldn’t become a trio… Maybe you could head back with us? If you’re all alone yourself…”
“We’ll consider it!” Bad Name chimes in. “At least, we’ll check the place out!”
Sitting in a swiveling chair in a remote location, Brooke Elliot tossed her burner cell phone at the nearby wall hard. Her husband Randall and his prime enforcer Ryder had failed to answer any of the countless calls she’d made since learning the attack was underway. “They’re… They’re dead…” Elbows on the desk before her, she buried her face in her hands, whimpering for a short while.
“Er, Mrs. Elliot..?” Another feminine voice, this one with a thick accent, snaps her out of her funk, looking up at the figure walking in. “Sorry to barge in, but…”
“Now isn’t a good time, Nijinga…” She sniffles. “He’s… He’s dead.”
“We had a feeling… ‘She’ thought that you might want this, is all.” The woman holds out a handful of dubious pills.
“I swore off that shit when I got married. Don’t tempt me.”
“Right, right…” The other woman retracts the hand. “She just wanted me to ask, is all.” She pauses, thinking. “If… Ryder and Mr. E are both dead, then that means you’re in charge, yes? What are we doing now?”
“For now..?” Brooke looks solemnly at the other woman. “I need time to mourn, to think, and we can’t let this place fall into enemy hands anyway. Keep holding the fort down.”
“And your daughter? Should we send for her?”
“No, no… She’s. Safer where she is. Tell the rest of the Perfect Strangers to prepare for an attack. I’m sure someone’s going to come hunting this place down eventually anyway.”
The next scene ought to be familiar to regular readers by now: the nice room with plenty of seat space at a big table, an old-timey radio playing out the song this round is ending on. Two men, GIANTS and Destiny Showdown, and a woman, Lilah Dawn, sit around one side of the table, reconvening for the first time since the end of the previous round.
“Everyone here succeeded in their missions, yet one less of us is here again…” Lilah Dawn reflects, a bittersweet touch to her voice.
“I made a humiliating miscalculation and cost the life of a friend and potentially ally,” Destiny, still beating himself up over that, remarks, “even if the world is finally rid of the senator, and we’re one little patch closer to what we desire.”
What matters is that the rest of us still live, Destiny. Strawberry Roan may have failed in the end, but the memory of his steadfast resolution will give us strength. We must, as he would have said, ‘Stand Proud.’ We have little time for regret or mourning, even for a man such as himself. Now, with so few obstacles remaining... is when we ought to be acting more decisively than ever.
Lilah brings a hand up against her face, raising her eyebrows. “Sir, are you suggesting what I think you are..?”
I am. With a third of these ‘patches’ under our belt, it’s about time, I would think, that we begin to make a point of acting more directly. It won’t be long, anyway, until ‘somebody’ refuses to play into our hands by squabbling with the rest of their competition.
“These teams are at one another’s throats… Jules Langlais and Anna Rose, then Buffalo Soldier and Russ Teneo, had no quarrel with one another, yet attempted to kill one another on sight,” Destiny reminds the Hall of Heads, “would those who remain really be capable of cobbling together some sense of unity...?”
In a mysterious mansion, where a visiting sniper had begun to piece together precisely who her most recent partner had once worked for, onboard a roaming bus, and at a college campus, a familiar sound comes through on their nearby radios.
Uh… Hey, again. It’s T. T Square. There should be… About eight people receiving this message. And, uh… You know who you are, and what this is about, to some of you in particular, but I’m not holding it against you, just so you know. He wouldn’t have wanted me to. Anyway though, uh… To all eight of you hearing this right now. Coconut Grove, Miami. One week. Meet me there. We have to Stand Proud.

Sometimes, I have really weird dreams and I don't know what the fuck to make of them

Since last year, I've been having really weird dreams, while I forget most of them, I sometimes write down what I remember. These 4 you're about to read, if you want to, are in chronological order.
1st Dream (May, 2013)
Be in a tool shed. See snake trapped in some sort of device. Cut snake in two. Snake instantly regenerates but slightly malformed. Repeat process. Snake is regenerating time after time. Snakes turns into a cat. An ugly fat cat, retarded, barely able to walk. Can't kill the cat. Set it loose. Fat cat never walked before, doesn't know how to. It learns. It walks on four legs, occasionally on two. Be creeped out, feel sorry but you can't kill the cat. Keep it a secret from other people. Go swim with random people in a nearby lake. You're afraid they'll find out about the monster cat you feed every day at 1 PM. Cat somehow escapes, blending into the environment. Be in a huge building, taking to friends. Building is attacked by witches whom steal babies. Realize building is school. Talk to people there, see a nice girl, flirt. Turns out she's the nurse. After a while she leaves. School still under attack, by now the cat is there too. It starts talking. Standing on two legs, fat, retarded it says with a wailing voice "I have no soul, it was stolen from me". Feel sorry for cat, know you should have killed it. Think no living being should live without a "soul". School turns into a house, hear girl crying over baby stolen by witch. Hear strange noises coming from the attic, see light flickering on wall, entering from window. Realize it's the witches communicating. Shut the windows tight, prepare for the hunt. Wake up.
2nd Dream (July, 2013)
I am sitting with some acquaintances in front of the house where my office is, talking about the weather. My eyes are drawn to two women. One is carrying the other on the top of her palms, going towards the creek. She enters the water, it's thigh deep. The other woman(the on her palms) let's go, falling inside (it's some sort of a baptism). After being completely submerged she comes out and starts talking in an unknown language. (You can't understand the language but it's subtitled. She's talking about a ritual for passing into another world). Acquaintances turn into companions. One of them (think dwarf) looks forward, there's a huge field there. He turns around, the same huge field, perfectly mirrored. "We are now between dimensions, we need to enter the door." After entering through the door, I find myself in what seems to be a video game (think RPG). It's the first level, I need to kill some monsters to complete it. After the monsters are slain, I pick up the items and finish the level. I'm in a town, my companions are nowhere to be found. A mix of Master Yoda and Tyrion Lannister asks me: what kind of superhero do I want to be? Without hesitation I say, Luffy (from One Piece). "The training will begin immediately". I'm taken to a room with other "Luffy's", all of them seem to be children, they're training. YoTyrionDa turns into some sort of a robot. We begin to fight. I seem to be doing well, beating my 'sensei'. Turns out I'm the "Chosen One", or something of the sorts.
Everything shifts. I'm now running away, chased by Appalachian tribesmen. We're inside a plane/house (it's a plane with two cockpits, has a wooden house attached to it). Not sure why we are running but we are. One of the cockpits gets burnt down, we enter the house, silently sneaking towards the other end. We knew that after climbing up on the ladder, we will have escaped the tribesmen (they weren't so smart). The escape happens. Another shift.
Partying with x(and some friends of her?) in a pub somewhere near the Central Cemetry in Cluj-Napoca. It's morning, everyone's going home. As I walk on Avram Iancu street, music starts playing, there's an orchestra scattered all over the place, playing (Click) (Mozart's 40th Symphony). My eyes are drawn to one of the arched entrances. There's a Cello hooked to a strange mechanism. (some sort of a pulley system with levers and pedals) y is playing on it. "They won't take me in the orchestra though I can play the piece just fine." He presses a pedal, the cello starts making some deep noises, the 'negative of the song', strums some chords, it sounds soothing. Be amazed at how good he is (be more amazed that he likes classical music). Turns out he has a firm which helps people get jobs?! Standing in the back, z (the PR officer) is helping some random guy; "We'll call you back", after the guy leaves she turns to me and says "I won't be calling him back, he's an idiot." After a while a van appears, some huge men get out. Something about a kidnapping. z is taken. I find myself inside the van, making sure they won't hurt her? Overhear talk between two of the 'gorillas'. "It's a good thing..." Beep-beep-beep. Time to wake up.
3rd Dream (2014 September)
I'm with my brother on a bus, going to work/school?. Some of the passengers start smoking. It would seem they don't care you're not allowed to smoke on public transportation. I feel a bit annoyed, only to realize that I as well lit a cigarette, without knowing. Put out the cigarette.
It's raining/snowing outside, really shitty weather. Sleet covers the road, making it slippery, the bus brakes and it starts drifting off the road, almost falling in into a nearby river. It eventually stops, with one end hanging over it. Somehow the bus ends up falling. I manage to escape with my brother and a curly haired girl. Everyone else drowns. A group of passengers whom got off on an earlier stop are walking towards us, wondering why we're wet. They won't believe the bus fell into the river. "Rescue" arrives.
A scene where they attach some giant flotation device to make the bus emerge from underwater. Just before they do, I "see" myself in the bus (I am underwater), everyone is drowned, handcuffed to the rails you hold onto. A giant light is turned on in order to see, make the salvage easier. The lifeless bodies all start "moving" towards the light. Get a close up of a dead person's face who seems to be content with the fact that there's light. Think to myself that's absurd, after all once you die there's only darkness. Have a thought about the dead being drawn to the light, trying to escape the cold darkness they're in.
Few weeks go by, I am still haunted by dreams about the drowned people handcuffed to the rails. No one seems to understand why I can't just let go. They're surprised, even bothered. Remember distinctively how this near death experience changed the way I looked on life....
Wake up...
The details of the next one, are a bit scrambled, I haven't had proper time to take notes.
4rd Dream (2014 October, last night)
I find myself in the house I've spent most of my childhood (it's the house that belonged to my grandparents. We sold it because of money issues...) ready to organize some sort of a party. I just go hired by this firm as a chef 'aid'. I am washing the dishes, the guests arrive. Everyone seems to be displeased, even though it's a great party? A machine attached to the fence outside the house starts making noise, as the guests leave they 'rate' the party. Rain starts to fall, some of them have to come back in. Be happy they don't have to leave, and the party can continue.
Everything changes, I now find myself solving a mystery, where people disappear without a trace. Some people from the party, coworkers (from my actual job -> merchandiser) and I are trying to figure out how this can happen. Some sort of mini train appears? and it kidnaps one of the shoppers. The train heads into the shelves, instantly disappearing. Since that can't happen, I start tearing the place apart. I eventually find an "underground" tunnel filled with rails. We follow one of the 'routes' eventually arriving at this 'mystical' train. The 'culprits' were some back office employees (the ones who handle the storage space...) They end up being fired.
There's a celebration, I am now with one of my ex-classmates, apparently she's my gf? (It's really fucked up, because we haven't really kept in touch, never really cared for her romantically/sexually and when it comes to haunting dreams, I have someone else who does that a LOT.) We're trying to find a place to have sex? Go through some complex bathroom only to end up in a really nice place, a casino with a great view of the nearby lake. We sit down, talk about random things, a homeless guy appears. I see the disdain in her eyes so I just ignore him (something I don't generally do). The homeless guy is now irritated that I/we didn't help him at all. Gets really close, and says "Jerk." Think to myself I now have to change my style of life because of current gf. (She has this really luxurious life, with holidays in Dubai and what not.)
I find myself in bed with her, only to see my current boss walking in, letting me know "It's time to work." Wat?
Wake up...
Sorry if this takes too much of your time. I just felt like I had to share :/
